Tour

Golf is back. The game’s best players are again ready to entertain and inspire.

But this time it’s different. The players will not compete for FedEx Cup Points, trophies or world rankings. They’ll be playing for something far greater, the health and safety of our communities.

TaylorMade Driving Relief is headlined by Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff. They will compete in a team best-ball skins match with all proceeds going to support COVID-19 relief.

The event began to take shape when we tapped Rory and the PGA Tour to get involved. From there, things snowballed. One partner after another raised their hand in a show of unity, ready to leverage the game of golf and our respective platforms to help in the fight against the pandemic.

“I jumped at the chance to do this. With everything that's happened over the past few months, to be able to get together with some of the best golfers in the world to raise awareness and money for the frontline workers, people who are fighting this virus every single day…. I'm very honored that I can be a small part of it.”
Rory McIlroy
“TaylorMade Driving Relief will bring awareness and additional funding to those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m thankful to Rory, Rickie, Dustin and Matthew from Team TaylorMade for their participation in this event and United Heath Group and Farmers Insurance for serving as the foundation of charitable giving.”
Jay Monahan, PGA Tour

About the Event

In partnership with NBC Sports, Golf Channel, Sky Sports and the PGA Tour, Team TaylorMade athletes are headlining TaylorMade Driving Relief – a $3 million-dollar charity skins match supported by United Health Group to raise money and awareness for organizations leading the COVID-19 relief efforts.

The event will be held May 17 at the famed Seminole Golf Club in South Florida, where World No. 1 Rory McIlroy will team with Dustin Johnson to take on Oklahoma State University alums Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff. These players are all donating their time in support of the cause.

To ignite the fundraising efforts, United Health Group has pledged $3 million in support of the American Nurses Foundation and CDC Foundation. In addition, Farmers Insurance has also committed $1 million to stand up a birdies/eagle pool to benefit Off Their Plate – which distributes nutritious meals to front-line health workers and offers economic relief to those affected by the pandemic.

It will be the first time since March that televised golf is played. During the broadcast, a live donation platform at PGATOURCharities.com will be open to raise additional funds.

TaylorMade Canada Helps

Golf has a long history of supporting charitable causes in times of need, and we’re honored to continue that tradition. At TaylorMade Canada, we embrace our responsibility to step up during these unprecedented times. We encourage you to join us and show your support within Canada and contribute to Canadian Frontline healthcare workers with a donation to The FrontLine Fund! Click here to make a donation of your choosing. The FrontLine Fund provides a way for Canadians to donate money that will go directly to more than 100 participating hospitals battling COVID-19 from the front lines across the country. Donors will be provided with a Canadian tax receipt after making their contribution.

During the global broadcast, the TaylorMade Driving Relief supported by UnitedHealth Group will also be raising funds thanks to PGA TOUR Charities powered by GoFundMe (US Tax Receipt provided).

About The FrontLine Fund

Canadian frontline healthcare workers are caught in a fight with COVID-19 and need our support to help fight this crisis. In response, hospital foundation leaders across Canada have come together to launch The Frontline Fund - a way for all Canadians and Canadian corporations to help arm frontline healthcare providers with the supplies, supports and research funding they need to fight this public health emergency and to support northern communities and indigenous health.

Due to all the important work going into fighting the novel coronavirus, hospitals are facing unprecedented costs and strain, which are being shouldered by the healthcare workers on the frontline. When Canadians donate to The Frontline Fund, they will be providing relief to these valiant caregivers through three key pillars:

  1. Supplies: From personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks, disinfectants, and disposable clothing; to life-saving ventilators and testing equipment; to the digital infrastructure needed to enable virtual patient care, frontline healthcare workers need more tools to win this battle and keep Canadians safe.
  2. Supports: Being on the frontlines of this pandemic takes a huge toll. Gift cards, peer-to-peer mental health support, and hotel rooms near the hospital will help our frontline workers protect their families, get much needed rest, and prepare themselves for the effort ahead.
  3. Research: Hospitals need funding to conduct vital research like clinical drug trials to discover therapeutic breakthroughs and intense vaccine development efforts.
